Here we are, another month, another tonne of buttercream, another few kilos of fondant, and a whole heap of colour stained finger tips.
It’s the beginning of the month again, and I wanted to share with you, my favourite creations from last month, September 2017.
Some of them I believe have a wow factor. Others, not so much, just super pretty and / or have a great story behind them.
Let’s get amongst it:
Daniel The Tiger cake
This is definitely on my favourite list for September.. and purely because I had no idea who this cute little guy was! Turns out he’s pretty awesome. I love that it’s very neutral with it’s colours and can be so appropriate for both genders! Plus – white chocolate & raspberry flavoured cake… YUM!
Sweet 16 Cake
This cake is just so pretty. Pink and white and black. Simple… yet soooo satisfying! These colours just work so gosh darn well together!
Ok… so as I am ever repeating… ‘I’m only human’.
The customer got a little more cake than what she had paid / bargained for. I had accidently baked a cake far too big for the 10 people she was going to serve, because I had in my head ‘carved cake’, not ’10 people sized cake’. And baked my little heart out. I think it ended up looking better bigger, in my opinion (even though I had nothing to compare it to haha), and although there was plenty left over, the customer and little Luis were absolutely rapt with this cake!
Vanilla Bean 1st Birthday
I do drip cakes left, right and centre. Yes. So what makes this one, one of my ‘favourites’? This is one of my returning families. And I always love creating for returning families. Even if I don’t know the family super well… I still kind of get to see them ‘grow up’. Little Amelia has the same name as my daughter also – and when I showed my daughter this topper, she replied with ‘Uh Mum… I’m older than that’ – thinking it was for her!
Rainbow & Pastel Unicorn Cake
This cake is absolutely hands down, my most favourite cake of September. Rainbow swirl on the inside, pastel colours on the outside to match the birthday invitations. This cake travelled 6 hours is an esky and made it to it’s destination safely. The esky was JUST to short for the cake, so I had to dismantle the horn, place in a bag and send along a little extra gold dust so that the customer could touch up upon assembling back at home.
WHAT A CAKE!
