Do you know what I did this morning?
Started work at 10:30am.
Yep. I sure did. And do you know why?
Not because I slept in. Not because I had an awful time getting ready for school with my daughter. Not because of traffic conditions. Not because of anything that set me back 2 hours from my usual start time of 8:30am.
So why did I start work at 10:30am this morning?
Simply because I wanted to.
I went and had a coffee with a friend.
With running your own business, comes some highs and some lows, and some of those come at extremes too.
But one of my very high points of running my very own sweet cake biz, is that I run it the way I want to run it. I give myself flexibility to have a social life, and a family life, amongst my business life.
And even though I have time to do social things outside and inside of my business hours… I am still making a living from my cake business as my sole income.
I know this may seem like an ‘oh, look at me, I’m so awesome’ type of blog post. However, it is simply just the opposite.
When I first started out in the cake biz industry, I had an epic fail. Packed it in, and started working for someone else, yet again.
But then 1 and a half years later, I had another crack at it. And this time, well… I simply succeeded, and my business is still growing each and every day.
I like to share both my wins and my losses within my own business, amongst those who are just starting out or feeling a little disheartened, just so that they know they are not alone.
Because you really aren’t.
All of those struggles that you are going through, share them… I’m sure there will be others who are feeling the same way or have been in the same situation and have advice to give.
And if you are having wins, share them… give other people something to cheer and get excited about with you.
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR via comment below or email email@example.com with a recent win or fail within your cake business!
AND – If you’d like to hear my journey (including the failure), I have recently been interviewed via podcast. Maybe while you are baking and decorating, get your podcast shoes on as well. – CHECK IT OUT HERE
Now, after my big rabble, I want to let you all know about an exciting new adventure that I have embarked on and collaborated with Rebekah from Angel Foods.
THE REASON BEHIND THIS COURSE?
I simply want to share with all of you, and help you get to the point where I am today.
Sometimes it’s the little things that matter the most you know?
Like not letting business take over your life, and being able to head out for a coffee with a friend, or have a weekend uninterrupted by the beeping of your phone with more cake enquiries.
It is a hard journey, and I have been on this journey and have learnt many lessons, mostly the hard way. And a lot of the time, I wished that I had a little more direct guidance as to what I was ‘suppose’ to be doing.
So this course was born…
An 8-week live course teaching how to market + get your name out there + price with confidence for profit + how to sell (beating the cheap cake lady + convincing customers of your value + getting the order).
P.s – There’s a 20% discount as an early bird special for a limited time!
