I’m a little late on the mark for this post. 9 days in to August, and I’m sharing my favourite cakes that I create in July. I usually get this out within 2-3 days.
Caking has been absolutely hectic lately, to say the absolute least. Leaving me a little stretched for time to be creating blog posts and sharing a whole heap of awesome cake-tastic things.
No matter how hectic it has been… by golly gosh, I have been loving every second of my edible art that I have been able to share with my customers.
So below… are my favourite cakes that I was rapt to create in July, and a little story with each.
Unicorns!!! I was absolutely thrilled when a customer approached me about creating an ENTIRE unicorn themed birthday package! Not only is the cake a little different than the usual, but I was able to create unicorn cake pops!!! As fiddly as these little cake pops were, they are totally worth the outcome! This particular customer has since ordered a ‘Cars’ themed package… the whole hog again… I can’t wait to share this in September with you all!

This cake here, hold a special place in my heart, as I was asked by my Mumma Bear to create this for my Step-dad’s 50th surprise birthday party. Mumma held his surprise party, on her birthday, (their birthdays are only a few days away from each other), talk about an amazing and selfless lady!
This cake however, did cause me a little heart ache. I love to repeat that I am only human within my blogs… and human error definitely came into play here. 4.5 batches of home made mud cake mix went into this cake… twice!!! Because the first time I broke the thing in half by being impatient. Safe to say, I may have sat on the floor, cried a little, and stuffed my face full of cake!
Just how cute is this Teddy Bears picnic themed cake?! Bernie from Charlibelle Parties asked me to create this cake, and after a little bit of shuffling around, I was able to fit this in amongst my other orders. And so super glad that I did! These bears are just so super cute! The colours are wonderful. And… not to mention… the setup that it was placed upon.
I’m a Bundy girl… need I say more, why I love this cake?!
Not to mention it has layers of Chocolate Mud Cake, and White Chocolate Mud cake. Making the Bundy Bear was surprisingly easier than I thought, and I loved attaching his cheeky little tongue at the end. This is also the second wooden barrel panel effect that I have done on cakes this year, and I absolutely love the effect!
I have done quite a lot of drip cakes in my time. They have just taken off this year in a cake world craze. Every now and then, I do have a favourite that comes along… and this one definitely makes the mark. Although it’s not super tall, there’s not a hell of a lot going on… I just love the concept of this cake.
Caramel mud cake with vanilla buttercream, a home made caramel sauce drip, home made peanut brittle, caramel popcorn and butterscotch lollies. Not to mention that all of the colours just work. Mostly the ‘same’ colour… but different shades. LOVE!
And there we have it… my favourite cakes that I was so glad that I got to create in July!
